Throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s, Grand Prix, Formula 1 TT, three wheeling superstars ventured to various European real roads circuits including Raalte, Luttenbergring, Mettet, Rouen Les Essarts and Tubbergen.
The flowing, picturesque Austrian MSV Schwanenstadt circuit is another prime case in point.
From 1969-1988, event victors to name but a few included Klaus Enders, Alberto Pagani, Eight times TT winner Chas Mortimer, Alan North, Kork Ballington.
1982 Senior 500 TT runner-up Jon Ekerold, Boet Van Dulmen, Donnie McLeod, Alain Michel and three times British Superbike Champion Niall Mackenzie.
Whilst the circuit no longer hosts contemporary race action, its’ heritage, history is celebrated at the demo races themed Oldtimer Grand Prix.
Ran earlier this month for the 13th time, the likes of 2011 Moto 2 World Champion Stefan Bradl, 10 times World Champion Steve Webster MBE, Rolf Biland, Ruben Xaus, triple TT winner Klaus Klaffenbock, 1982 Moto GP World Champion Marco Lucchinelli all attended.
Outright quickest following the demo races per class was Walter Malzner.
Others attaining speediest times from their respective classes included Johann Foettinger, Erich Wiesenbger, Michael Berger, Erich Bauer and Miroslav Polacek.
