Datzer’s Fact Finding Isle of Man Trip

Datzer’s Fact Finding Isle of Man Trip

IRRC Superbike Championship front runner, Germany’s second quickest TT racer in history David Datzer, recently travelled to the Isle of Man, on a fact-finding mission, as he builds towards his third TT Races venture.

Reacquainting himself with the mythical, fabled Mountain Course, ‘Datzii’ was joined on his travels by fellow countryman, IRRC regulars, potential future Manx GP, TT competitors Andreas Jochum and Patrick Hoff.

Speaking about this topic, summing up an overall productive time on IOM shores, Macau Grand Prix runner-up Datzer stated:

“My first trip to the Isle of Man 2023 is already over. After flight difficulties in Manchester, we arrived after one day’s delay.

The reason for my trip:

For me the focus this year is fully on the Great International road-races.

There-fore I wanted to go to the Island to work on my track knowledge with many laps in the car.

Especially the mountain section, cost me too much time in 2022 and I wanted to tackle it again.”

He continued:

“With me I had two Germans, potential participants, Andreas Jochum (Manx GP 2023) and Patrick Hoff (maybe TT 2024) to whom I could pass on a little of my experience and thus make a school trip out of it!

For me it was very good because I could learn lots, post almost 10 laps of the course and to reproduce and internalize it every time round.

I will visit the TT course again in March at the latest to continue working.

Also, we are still actively looking for a Super Twin or Supersport team/motorcycle for the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT.”
