Cock O’The North: Saturday Races Summary
Six years since it last took place, the Cock O’The North meeting made a spectacular return today, with Scarborough wizard, now 102 times an Oliver’s Mount race victor Dean Harrison taking top billing.

Post practice, qualifying sessions, Harrison astride the Boyce Precision Engineering/Russell Racing Yamaha vaulted in style to Supersport A race one honours.

Almost twelve seconds ahead of top pursuer, current Steve Henshaw Gold Cup Champion Adam McLean, Harrison on route to glory, neared his own existing Supersport lap record, lapping at 1 minute 45.490 seconds.

Harrison was also close to record breaking form in the Classic Superbike opener.

A Ducati machinery first timer, it didn’t take long for the Bradford ace to be at one with Italian two-wheel steed exotica.

Overhauling early pace setter, Greenall Racing Kawasaki mounted Rob Hodson, he went onto finish 7.959 to the good over the reigning Classic Superbike Manx Grand Prix Champion.

Final race of the day, the opening eight-lap Cock O’The North encounter, saw triple TT winner Harrison again in exquisite form.

Once again, JMcC Roofing Racing’s Adam McLean, the Super Twins race one conqueror provided the toughest opposition, forcing the Bradford racer to unlock extra levels of Scarborough magic.

Dropping in closing race stages his pace a touch, Harrison’s final winning margin stood at 4.175 with aforementioned 44 plate holder Hodson completing the first three finishers, in front of a charging Michael Browne.

Steve Ramsden/Matty Ramsden took advantage of technical issues for Lee Crawford/Scott Hardie, to gain Sidecars race one success whilst others chalking up victories, were Joey Thompson (Lightweight 250), Richie Welsh (Lightweight 400), Grant Whitaker (CB 500).

Adrian Skaife (Moto 3), Jamie Kelman (Supermono) and local favourite Paul Marley (Supersport B).

An impressive third in the opening Super Twins race, Marcus ‘Spartacus’ Simpson steadfastly led the newcomers’ brigade.

What else to mention from today at Scarborough, Sidecar taxi rides, blue skies, blustery winds, top crowd in attendance, pure road racing at its’ finest!
