Cleethorpes Jeff Smith is buzzing about this year’s Manx Grand Prix, as he mixes riding duties with supplying machines to four fellow event exponents.
The Pre-TT Classic winners’ own machinery stable, sees him RobSpeed Motorcycles sponsored G50 Seeley (includes minnovation prepared engine), K4 Honda mounted for Senior Classic, Junior Classic race outings.
Speaking recently, the 12th place finisher in last year’s 100th Anniversary MGP, chatted about the racers he will be supporting (as mentioned above) next month, three of whom are Mountain Course racing first-timers.
“Billy Roebury will ride the Yamaha FZR400 in the Ultra Lightweight, Stephen Walsh will ride the Drixton 500 in the Classic Senior.
Andy Green will ride the Drixton 350 in the Classic Junior and Andy Guy will have the Honda K4 as a reserve bike also in the Classic Junior.
The two Andy’s are Newcomers this year so pretty-exciting times for them, Stephen will be also undertaking his first race in the Classic Senior – so good luck to these gents.”
Smith went onto add about his own event-expectations:
“My hopes are primarily for a safe event for everyone taking part.
As a grandfather of seven I feel pretty-confident I’m at least going to be at the top of the ‘racers with grandchildren list’ so my fan club of Olivia, Connor, Reggie, Ronnie, Ilana, River & Joshua will be cheering me on to the finish.
Result wise, for myself, 12th place last year is my best result so far, but anything in the top 20 in both races will have me buzzing.”
