BSB Oulton Park: Johnston Fifth Fastest After Friday’s 600 Action

Ashcourt Racing’s Lee Johnston kicked off his 2021 British Supersport Championship campaign, by finishing fifth fastest overall after this morning, afternoon’s timed practice sessions at Oulton Park.

Steadily building up his speed, confidence, Johnston’s fifth quickest time from the opening 600 practice stint, stood at 1 minute 40.462 seconds, 1.248 seconds adrift of FP1 pace setter Jack Kennedy.

Second quickest in terms of established pure road racers behind TT winner Johnston, was series newcomer Jim Hind.

BTS/NLC Components supported Hind, who claimed overall Road Racing News Supersport success at the Oliver’s Mount Spring Cup, finished a respectable 13th fastest following his best lap time of 1 minute 42.049 seconds set during the prior mentioned opening 600 practice session.

Fellow next generation, rising road race talents Joe Loughlin (Team ILR with Mark Coverdale), Dominic Herbertson (Cowton Racing) finished 24th, 26th quickest, recording respective best lap times of 1 minute 44.706, 1 minute 45.302 seconds.
