Potently decent conditions all-round, graced what was an entertaining opening Supersport NW200 qualifying session.
Boyce Precision Engineering/Russell Racing’s Richard Cooper set the initial pace, lapping at a modest 4:39.443 seconds.
Just 0.144 in arrears was Davey Todd and the rasping Powertoolmate Ducati.
19 minutes in, Cooper, Todd continued to set the pace with both lapping below the 4:36 seconds barrier.
16 minutes later, 25 times TT winner Michael Dunlop astride his resplendent 765 Triumph, popped up to P3 on the live timing screens.
Cooper, Todd remained first, second fastest with Michael Browne, Paul Jordan, Peter Hickman fourth, fifth, sixth quickest.
The leader board top-six didn’t alter majorly till the session’s completion with 47 plate holder Cooper (4.34.718) scooping provisional pole position.
Adam McLean, Michael Evans, Conor Cummins, Michael Sweeney joined Cooper, Todd, Dunlop, Browne, Hickman, and Jordan in the top ten of Supersport Q1.
Quickest of the NW200 newbies was Optimark Road Racing’s Jonathan Goetschy (19th fastest).
54 racers chalked up representative lap times whilst 23 competitors dipped under the 5 minutes lap mark.
