By As in Open/Senior Open qualifying, the Supersport timed practice session of the 58th Tandragee 100 saw the two Derek’s, Sheils and McGee, embroiled in another high quality battle, to be top of the time sheets.
Underling again the potential of his ex IC Racing/Caffrey International YZF R6 Yamaha steed, it was multi Irish road race Superbike champion Sheils (3.00.504), who just had the edge, to make it a hat trick of poles today at Tandragee.
Second quickest McGee, went onto head the 125/Moto 3 and Super Twins qualifying sessions, aboard respectively the Joeys Bar MCC Honda, and the IEG backed KMR Kawasaki, to mark himself out as arguably the standout rider from today’s competition at Tandragee.

Outside of McGee and Sheils various world class performances, fellow countryman Michael Sweeney third fastest in Supersport qualifying, is quietly going under the radar this season, showing consistent highly accomplished pace and form, on the Martin Jones Racing machines.
Same applies to rising star Adam McLean, who will start from second on the grid tomorrow, for the Super Twins race, having showed more excellent speed on the Roy Hanna Motors backed Kawasaki.
Fellow next gen roads competitors Neil Kernohan and Ballymoney’s Darryl Tweed, topped the 250 and 400 time sheets, whilst the Junior Support and Senior Support pole position honours, went respectively to Wayne Sheehan and the improving Michael Browne.
The yesteryear machinery classes, which provide a mix of evoking memories from years gone by, great sounds a plenty, and a chance to see many absolutely priceless bikes up close, timed practice sessions were topped by Gareth Keys (Forgotten Era), Brian Mateer (Classic 250), Barry Davidson (Classic 350) and Robert McCrum (Classic 1000).
