Underlining his status as a pre-race favourite, Milenco by Padgetts Davey Todd sped to Supersport Group A qualifying honours.
Keeping up the form that yielded five victories at the Southern 100, Todd’s best lap time of 1.45.713 seconds, made him nigh-on 1.8 seconds faster than Super Twins TT podium finisher Paul Jordan (1.46.892).
Michael Browne (1.46.904) was just 0.012 off Jordan’s turn of speed whilst Derek Sheils (1.47.140) having his first roads outing with McAdoo Kawasaki, was only 0.236 down on fellow Countryman Browne.
Completing the top ten from Group A qualifying were Adam McLean (1.47.694), Graham Kennedy (1.49.015), TT Privateers Champion Jamie Coward (1.49.280), Stephen Tobin (1.52.075), Darryl Anderson (1.52.851) and Manx GP winner James Chawke (1.53.194).
Group B action wise, paddock favourite Dominic Herbertson (1.49.136) lapping in the low 1.49’s, set the pace, edging Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Michael Sweeney (1.49.522).
Herbertson, Sweeney placed overall seventh, ninth quickest with pole for Friday, Saturday’s Supersport race stints claimed by the above showcased Todd.
