Friday evening, 2025 Armoy Road Races, racing thrills, kicked off with a top-grade Super Twins contest.
As clocks neared 6:00 PM, the Clyde Shanks Super Twins race launched into fulfilment.
Michael Sweeney (MSR Aprilia) held the race lead for the first two laps before pole-sitter Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing Powered by Aprilia), attained P1 ownership prior to mid-race distance.
On lap four, ‘PJ’ repeated his lap-record breaking heroics from qualifying, setting an official Twins lap-record of 1.47.542 seconds.
This increase in pace, allowed the Magherafelt rider to enhance his gap to Sweeney, moving 2.235 clear.
There was no stopping Jordan from this moment onwards, as he gave suitors Jackson Racing in commanding style, a first victory at Armoy. Second place finisher Sweeney, at the finish-line was 5.588 adrift.
Armoy debutant, Scott Racing’s Joe Yeardsley made it an Aprilia 1-2-3, after taking third off Barry Furber on the seventh, final lap.
Joey Thompson (TH Racing Aprilia) took fifth, Marcus Simpson placed sixth with Neil Kernohan, Sean Brolly, Dean McMaster, FAO Racing stand in rider Rhys Hardisty, replacing Darryl Tweed who is competing at Circuit De Chimay this week, rounding out the top ten finishers.
Race retirements wise, now former Twins lap-record Jamie Coward retired on lap six whilst Cowton Racing’s Franco Bourne challenge ended on lap two.
