Armoy 2024: Todd Waltzes To Open Race Glory
Going and some to the form book, Milwaukee BMW’s Davey Todd waltzed his way to Causeway Geotech Open race honours.

Swiftly into elite form, Todd post lap one’s circulation, had opened up-a 2.683 seconds’ advantage.

This increased by almost two seconds to 4.653 seconds on lap two as the six times Northwest 200 winner threw the gauntlet down, registering a new official Armoy Road Races lap record of 1:39.629 seconds, equating mph wise to 108.691 mph.

From here, the ‘DT’ show was in full swing, moving by lap five’s end, over thirteen seconds clear.

Rolling off the pace a modest amount on the seventh, last lap, Todd carrying his customary 74-plate, enjoyed a victorious winning margin of almost 10.8 seconds, 10.795 to be exact.

Behind Todd, second went to Market Rasen’s Phil Crowe, third to Jamie Coward, making it back-to-back podium finishes.

Fourth to fifth leaderboard finishes were picked up by the evenly matched trio of Dominic Herbertson, Michael Sweeney and Michael Browne.

Paul Jordan finished seventh whilst Conor Cummins first race under the FHO Racing BMW umbrella, saw him take a solid eighth place.

Sam West, Neil Kernohan obtained ninth, tenth with P11 to P15 positions going respectively to Marcus ‘Spartacus’ Simpson, Matt Stevenson, Ryan Whitehall, James Chawke and Barry Furber.

In total 25 racers finished the record-breaking Open race. Sixteen to twenty fifth position scoopers were Jacque Foley, Keelim Ryan, Jay Bellers Smith, Damian Horan, Paul Cranston, Liam Chawke, Keith Pringle, Donald MacFadyen, Dennis Booth and Stephen ‘Degsy’ Degnan.
