Armoy 2024: Magic DT Regains Race of Legends Title
The 2024 Armoy Road Races wrapped up with the one they all wanted to win, the coveted Bayview Hotel ‘Race of Legends’.

Runaway Open race stint victor Davey Todd started the heavy favourite to make it three wins in a day. A few minutes before 3:05 PM, race activities stormed into realization.

Surprise, surprise, Milwaukee BMW’s Todd made the no.1 start! He went onto finish the opening lap, 2.958 in front of fellow countryman Phil Crowe.

Laps two, three would see Todd enter overdrive mode, successively breaking his own existing lap record, unleashing the first 109 mph lap in Armoy racing history, (new lap record 1:39.051 seconds – 109.325 mph).

Such was Todd’s pace injection that by lap five, he was 11.39 seconds to the good over still second place occupier, Crowe.

Barring technical misfortune, circumstances outside his control, ‘Race of Legends’ victory number two for Todd looked nailed on.

Cooly speeding towards the chequered flag on the seventh, last lap, Todd finalised the mission to regain the ‘Race of Legends’ title.

Classic Superbike race runner-up Crowe finished second, 6.503 seconds adrift, after Todd reduced his pace across concluding race laps.

BE/RK Racing’s Dominic Herbertson wrapped up the feature-race podium members finishing 4.191 in front of Super Twins winner x2 Jamie Coward.

Marcus ‘Spartacus’ Simpson was an impressive fifth, Ryan Whitehall, the Isle of Wight’s leading real roads ace took sixth. Sticking in finishes seventh to tenth were Neil Kernohan, Matt Stevenson, Sam West and Barry Furber.

James Chawke finished eleventh, Conor Cummins had a low key run to twelfth as Jacque Foley, Keelim Ryan, TH Racing’s Jay Bellers Smith scored placings thirteenth to fifteenth.

Four more racers were race finishers’, Liam Chawke, Paul Marley, Donald MacFadyen and Stephen ‘Degsy’ Degnan.
