By The permanent Dutch TT Grand Prix circuit (Assen – first opened in 1955) that replaced the original street-circuit ‘Van Drenthe’, hosted the fifth round (coincided with Manx Grand Prix start – 14th-16th August) of this year’s ‘Euro Moto’ Championship (formerly known as IDM).
Well-known names to roads scene aficionados participating, were IRRC race winners in recent years Marvin Siebdrath, Thijs Peeters, Jef Van Calster plus:
Chimay Open Trophy Superbike Race 2 runner-up Ouri Bikkems (his M1000RR BMW spotlighted in feature article image from Chimay), Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix podium finisher Sheridan Morais and Julius Ilmberger Jr (previous IRRC Superbike wildcard at Schleizer Dreieck, his father is a former racer and owner of company, Ilmberger Carbon parts).
Ilmberger Jr is potentially travelling to Slovak Trencin Airport races this weekend, to compete aside fellow-countrymen, Germany’s fastest TT pilot David ‘Datziii’ Datzer, Nico Muller, Wolfgang ‘Wolfi’ Schuster, Nico Muller, Florian Glashauser and Moritz Nestler whilst Czech IRRC stars Marek Cerveny, Matej Vit are also expected to compete.
Quick reminder for German roads scene fans, Frohburger Dreieck will host soon, the IRRC Supersport/IRRC Sportbike season finale (19th-20th September) supported by Sound of Classic, Twin Cup/Moto Trophy Twins, 2 Strokes GP/Classic categories.
We would be remiss as well not to mention the recent, German Manx Grand Prix newcomers Moritz Klaus, Chris Meyer, and Lorenz Rothaermel (wishing him a speedy recovery post his Manx GP qualifying incident).
The next Euro Moto Round pops up next month at the iconic Nurburgring (4-5th September) whilst the Championship finale descends upon the Hockenheimring (25th-27th September).
