By Supersport (A) Race Three:
Tom Weeden made it three different winners from the weekend’s Supersport (A) races.
First to Mere Hairpin, Weeden kept at bay SSP Race 1, Race 2 victors, respective second, third place finishers Joey Thompson and Rob Hodson, to capture encounter laurels.
Peter Hickman, before his sensational run to feature race glory, was fourth with Johnny Stewart (P5), Dan Frear (P6), top Stock SSP competitor John Marsh (P7), Joey Lambden (P8), joining him in lapping inside 1 minute 50 seconds.
Supersport (B) Races Two and Three:
Two first time Oliver’s Mount race victors were-crowned in the concluding Supersport (B) races.
Firstly, Christian ‘Bomber’ Slater holding off local rider Paul Moir, then Isle of Man based Wayne Avis, declared victorious after Arthur Gissing’s incident at the Esses, causing the third, final SSP (B) race to be red flagged.
Super Twin Races Two and Three:
TH Racing’s Joey Thompson more than made up for Saturday’s Race One disappointment, by accruing Sunday’s Pub & Kitchen Super Twins contests.
Thompson now up to thirty Oliver’s Mount victories, top chasers in Twins race bouts two & three were respective second, third place finishers x2, the impressive Stephen Gorton and exceptional Scarborough debutant, Peter Hickman.
Twins Race One victor Rob Hodson, had a difficult day, firstly retiring with electrical problems, which forced-him onto the non-starters list for the final Twins encounter.
Sidecars Races Two and Three:
“Good race was that.” Kieran Clarke speaking to circuit commentator Brad Hix, following Sidecars Race Three success.
Both lapping sub 1.55 seconds, Clarke/Rob Coppock, Race Two winners Carl Fenwick/Jake Roberts, treated the first-rate crowds around the Mount to Sidecar action at its’ best.
Fenwick/Roberts, as in the previous six-lap three-wheeling race, looked to have done enough to hold off Eddy’s Moto Tadcaster sponsored Clarke/Coppock.
Clarke/Coppock had other ideas though and on the last lap, made a race winning move.
Mark Hegarty/Jack Knapton took third closely pursued by Michael Russell/Alice Smith.
Race One victors the Ramsdens Steve & Matty, third in the second Sidecars contest, were the only non-race-finishers.
Classic Superbike Races Two and Three:
By night and day different winning margins, Tom Weeden swept up the second, third Classic Superbike races.
Classic SBK Race Two saw the former Senior Manx Grand Prix winner, ‘King of The Mount’ Championship leader, strongly pressured by Team York Suzuki’s Joey Thompson, with just 0.262 between them.
The third, final yesteryear Superbike bout, would see Weeden now on seventeen Oliver’s Mount race wins, P1 again but this time by a commanding margin of 16.41 (16.416 to be exact) seconds.
Mick Goodings attained third behind Thompson whilst Kristian Didelot, Steve Birtles had positive runs to fourth, fifth.
Lightweights Races Two and Three:
Stephen Gorton proved again his qualities at Scarborough, hauling in efficient fashion overall Road Racing News Lightweights triumphs.
400cc lap-record holder Dan Frear, was again the nearest pace wise to Gorton, twice finishing second.
Mike Norbury third outright x2, accomplished Scarborough racing comeback, ended with a brace of Supermoto class wins whilst 125/Moto 3, CB 500 ‘King Pins’ were the evergreen Tony Flinton and Steven Allan.
