Germany’s oldest existing racetrack Schleizer Dreieck (since 1923), hosted last week at the same as 4EVO Young Trophy – Circuit de Chimay and Czech Jicin Road Races, the 91st edition of Intenationale Schleizer Dreieckrennen, which as previously widely reported was without Euro Moto/IDM, IRRC, ESR affiliated competition.
The main goal of organisers for next season, is to host a round of the Sidecars World Championship but that requires further safety modifications at this legendary, natural circuit.
Well known names from IRRC experiences, participating last weekend included Martin Van Ruitenbeek, Udo Reichmann, Marcel Elsner (featured in main article photo from last month’s Hengelo-Varsselring activities).
Denny Rahmig, Billy Hilpert, Stefan Holz, Schleiz-citizens Philipp Stich, Micky Winkler and potential Manx Grand Prix debutant, Lorenz Rotharmel.
Euro Moto (previously titled IDM) competitor Jan-Ole Jahnig won both Open SBK/SSP inter-twined races and set the quickest lap time (1.23.971), not far off the official IDM lap-record held by Ilya Mikhalchik (1.23.849 – set in 2024 – unofficial all-time lap record achieved in 2023 IDM qualifying by Markus Reiterberger – 1.23.267).
Schleizer Dreieck will host next this season, the VFV Classic Grand Prix (3rd-5th July), German TT meeting (24th-26th July).
Other events coming up soon this summer, into the latter part of September for road racing fans in Germany are Flugplatzrennen Walldurn (19th-21st June), (provisional start-list includes ESR (European Series Road Racing) co-organiser/rider Rob Van Eijs, seasoned IRRC aces Reinhard Strack, Dirk Walter, former TT racers Dirk Kaletsch and Stefan Holz, Holger Vetter, Vitezslav Hatan).
