Toyota’s tense Le Mans 24 Hours victory with Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, Nyck De Vries, Sir Lewis Hamilton’s first F1 victory with Ferrari, quite the day for four-wheel motor racing worldwide.
For roads scene superfans though, the prime, top news this afternoon is Marek Cerveny’s fortieth, record-extending IRRC affiliated race triumph.
His path to Circuit de Chimay victories duplex, was swiftly in the second SSP race, made serener thanks to an on the money opening lap, moving 1.2 seconds plus clear of the determined opposition.
From here onwards, Cerveny’s mix of consistent pace, astute race craft, allowed him to lap by lap, steadily grow the race-lead, which stood at 2.961, as encounter activities wrapped up.
Ilja Caljouw (Performance Racing Achterhoek – Yamaha) bested long term second place holder Gary Johnson (Team Schleizer Dreieck – Suzuki) for second, with 0.132 of a second separating the pair.
Mauro Poncini, Petr Najman placed fifth, sixth behind P4 attainer Matej Vit who claimed fastest lap honours (1.41.548).
Sportbike Race One winner Jamie Williams was tenth whilst TT 2026 exponent, Stock Twin front-runner Mike Mace finished fourteenth.
