IRRC Chimay: Williams Regains Championship Lead, Scoops Sportbike Opener

Jamie Williams (NCE Racing – Aprilia) regained this morning at Circuit de Chimay, the IRRC Sportbike Championship lead, following a tight duel for victory with Wally Jacobs (Racing Team Block – Aprilia).

Six keenly contested laps, saw Williams, Jacobs’s swap fastest lap honours as both gave it everything in pursuit of increasing their IRRC wins totals.

Covered by 0.271 at lap four’s finalisation, remaining laps continued the pattern of the race, Jacobs (banked the race’s speediest lap – 1.49.701) keeping Williams honest, not letting him gain a decisive advantage.

In the end though, the Manxman had the edge, by the slender margin of 0.331 of a second.

Patrik Serbousek wrapped up the podium finishers with fourth to sixth leaderboard finishes clinched by Rutger Peersman (Hoffmann by MRP – Aprilia), Adrien Demierbe (HD Motorsport – Aprilia) and Mike Ceuppens (Texas Motors – Aprilia).

Remaining race finishers were Alexandre Dumoutier (P7), Enzo Ljubisavlievic (P8) and Yannik Jacops (P9).
