Six times, reigning IRRC Supersport Champion Marek Cerveny, found the extra gear when needed this afternoon at Chimay, to dash to SSP Q2 success.
Cerveny (WRP Wepol Racing – Triumph) trailed in opening stages of Q2, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Mauro Poncini, whose Q1 winning form, continued.
It wasn’t’ long though till Cerveny’s name hit the top of the times sheet, registering on his fifth timed lap, a sub 1.42 seconds’ lap-time (1.41.993).
This gave an advantage of 1.306 over Poncini (1.43.299), who-ultimately-placed third overall behind Gary Johnson (Team Schleizer Dreieck – Suzuki / 1.43.133).
IRRC SSP Championship leader Petr Najman (Festa Tools by Najmanmotorsport – Triumph / 1.43.403) was fourth quickest, 0.189 speedier than Ilja Caljouw (Performance Racing Achterhoek – Yamaha / 1.43.592).
Capping off the Q2 first ten were Matej Vit, Kevin De Haan, Wesley Ankersmid, Rico Vetter and back in middleweight category competition mode, Jamie Williams.
