63rd 300 Curves of Gustav Havel: Preview – Superbike/Supersport

The upcoming Horice, Czech Republic 300 Curves of Gustav Havel will be dedicated to much-missed, legend of Horice races, Kamil Holan (personal best lap times – 2.15.762 with Superbike – 2.18.747 – Supersport category) who made his circuit debut twenty-two years back in 2004 and ranks the second most top three finishing racer in Horice racing history, (thirty-one podium finishes only behind Marek Cerveny – forty-three rostrum finishes).

This afternoon, we look-into the favourites for both four-stroke premier classes, SBK and Supersport, which were-previously covered in meeting start-list focused articles on Road Racing News.

Superbike:

ESR (European Series Road Racing) and Czech Open Championship mixed races beckon this Sunday (second race runs solely under ESR banner).

Main stars on the start-line are co-founder of ESR, sitting second in current series standings, Belgian roads doyen Laurent Hoffmann (2.15.464), Slovak freestyler Tomas Toth (2.15.545), fastest Austrian Horice exponent Florian Astner (2.16.062).

Saxon ace Nico Muller (2.17.315), Finland’s Anssi Koski (2.17.637) and present ESR Championship leader, last year’s fastest Horice newcomer, Fedrik Matthys (2.18.312).

They will-be-joined by for example, Switzerland racer Olivier Lupberger (2.18.647), Czech ace Jiri ‘Joker’ Petrla (2.19.138), Kopcany Road Races organiser David ‘Predator’ Hanzalik (2.19.346), Swedish warriors Pontus Rostlinger (2.19.500), Rasmus Lindstrom (2.29.705).

Jakub Sprojcar (2.20.036), the only Slovak Northwest 200 competitor in history, Emil Krchnavy (2.21.083), Marek Stibor (2.21.736), Dominik Haslinger from Austria (2.22.579), Lukas ‘Cage’ Vaclavovic (2.22.752).

Christoph Kreller (2.23.152), Martin Hajek (2.23.839), Jan Myslivecek (2.23.890), Jean-Pierre Polet (2.24.216), ESR co-organiser Rob Van Eijs (2.24.569) and Bohdan Schaal (2.24.990).

Czech riders David Kuzela (Super Twins participant in recent years) and young talent Maxim Zanaska (2.23.544 with Supersport equipment), Supersport lap-record holder Petr Najman (registered as ESR guest rider for upcoming weekend), premiere with 1000cc machinery.

Previously disclosed entrant Amalric Blanc (2021 fastest Horice newcomer when astride 600cc tackle – 2.19.589), will now not be competing, due to an unlucky incident at the Northwest 200, which additionally makes his TT 2026 campaign with Never Be Clever Racing uncertain. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Amalric!

The quickest French racer at Horice, potential 2026 Manx GP newcomer Stephane Bednarek (2.17.920) is also missing from the updated provisional SBK entry-list.

Supersport:

Top P1 finishing candidates for Sunday’s middleweight class bout include above-mentioned, IRRC Supersport 2026 top two after opening contests at Hengelo, Petr Najman (2.14.531) and six-times IRRC SSP Champion Marek Cerveny (2.14.567) plus double TT winner, Team Schleizer Dreieck’s Gary ‘AKA Driver’ Johnson (2.17.574).

Great to see in start-list as well, names like German ace Wolfgang ‘Wolfi’ Schuster (2.17.766), Matej Vit (2.18.030), Karel ‘Chupa’ Brandtner (2.18.645), Sebastian ‘Frosch’ Frotscher (2.20.876).

Ales Sykora (2.20.980), Finn ‘Crazy Chicken’ Chapman (2.21.173), Slovakia’s first and still only TT Races participant in history, Miroslav ‘Laki’ Sloboda (2.21.236).

Fellow countryman, previously illustrated Tomas Toth (2.21.713), Jonas Stracke (2.23.531), Zbynek Prochazka (2.23.618), Frantisek Loucka (2.23.948).

The age-less Roman Bocek (2.24.640), French IRRC rider Mathieu Rieder (2.24.959) and debuting at Horice on SSP apparatus, prospective Manx GP newbie, Thomas ‘Uccio’ Altendorfer (PB lap-time 2.19.938 with SBK metal).
