2025 Southern 100: Browne Gains S&S Motors Supersport Race

Swiftly following Motor Isle Billown Course debutant John Marsh, winning the J.C.K Ltd Supersport B-Race, Supersport (A) racing, title backed by S&S Motors was next to commence on Championship Day at the 70th Anniversary, Southern 100.

Another middleweight category thriller ensued with last evening’s leading class forces, Davey Todd and Michael Browne, joined in the fight for honours by pole-sitter, TT wins record holder Michael Dunlop.

Dunlop, who dropped back to sixth on lap one, worked his way by lap two back to third and by lap three, was with Todd, Browne.

Remaining laps saw the Honda, Yamaha, Ducati mounted riders in tandem together, with below 0.7 of a second separating them at the end of laps three, four, five, six and seven.

On lap six, before reaching Ballakeighan, former Irish Road Race Supersport Champion Browne had grasped the race lead away from 2024 King of The Roads Champion Todd.

Dunlop third, was not giving up but ultimately had to settle for third and the race’s fastest lap (2.17.548), behind Todd and delighted race winner Browne.

Early third place carrier Rob Hodson (SMT Racing – Yamaha) finished fourth, Jamie Coward (KTS Macadam Triumph Factory Racing) race on race getting nearer the front placed fifth.

Paul Jordan, Nathan Harrison, Joe Yeardsley pocketed sixth, seventh, eighth place results with final top ten spots attained by Parker Transport Racing’s Erno Kostamo and next gen IOM roads scene competitor, Grant Thomson.
