Leaving the returning Around A Pound Tandragee 100, with four top sixteen finishes, an abundance of positives, former Irish Road Race Senior Support Championship runner-up Liam Chawke, more than held his own with a selection of pure road racing’s top competitors.
Chawkie Racing’s Eva Mullen, takes up the story:
What a weekend at the Around A Pound Tandragee 100 Road Races! Liam took to the roads on board the Chawkie Racing Supporters Club (CRSC) 600 & 1000cc machines, as well as the TH Racing Super Twin.
He was also set to race on the Lyonara Cold Stores Classic Machines; mechanical gremlins kept him off the grid for these contests — all part and parcel of classic racing!
Despite that hiccup, the weekend was a brilliant experience. Liam made the tough but mature call to pull a bike off the track when needed, showing once again the professionalism and race awareness that defines him.
One of the standout moments of the weekend was Liam starting on the grid (for Supersport races) just ahead of 33 times TT winner Michael Dunlop. He held his own and led the circuit for several laps before MD finally got by — a thrilling moment that made for fantastic racing and a proud memory for all of us.
Even better, we caught it all on camera — Liam flying past the crowd with MD just behind, the roar of the bikes echoing through the trees. That footage will be replayed more than a few times — it’s the kind of moment that reminds us why we do this.
We couldn’t be prouder of Liam representing the team and our sponsors at such a high level. His professionalism on and off the track continues to impress, and he does a brilliant job of showing exactly what the Chawkie brothers are made of — strong, skilled, and full of heart.
Well done to everyone involved at the Tandragee 100 Road Races — organisers, marshals, medics, racers, photographers and fans — for making this such an enjoyable weekend filled with great memories.
It was fantastic to be back at the circuit, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!
Many thanks also to TH Racing for supplying the Super Twin. Without a doubt an outstanding machine and an absolute joy for Liam to race. It was a pleasure for him to be out on it over the weekend!
To all the team, thanks for all the hard work to get the bikes on to the grid and for everything that they do in between, it’s been an incredible weekend filled with laughs, teamwork and unforgettable memories.
And, finally, chapeau to our dedicated sponsors, thank you for helping get us to where we are today. Your support means the world and makes all this possible. Thanks for all you do!
