2025 Macau Motorcycle GP Chat: French Ace Amalric Blanc

France’s swiftest Mountain Course pilot Amalric Blanc (PB TT lap-speed 127.742) is hoping to make a similar vibrant impression, on the iconic Guia Circuit.

The speediest two-wheel Macau GP newcomer of 2024, Road Racing News writer Tom McGrenery recently conducted an entertaining chat with the Team Abef Bro rider, which is-projected-below:

RRN: Is this your first time racing in Macau?

AB: It is my second time here, my second year. Last year I came, but the race was cancelled.

RRN: What are the differences between Macau and other races?

AB: Macau is special because it is between the barriers. It’s a closed-in circuit. It is something close to Monaco in F1. But for us [motorcycle racers], it is the only track where we are right between the rails; there are no run-off areas, nothing.

So, it is really-special, and it is a little more exciting because it is different from the usual circuits.

RRN: In your opinion, what is the most important section for gaining speed around the circuit?

AB: The bottom section is very, very fast, but in the sequences of curves [in the hill section], I think there’s a lot to be gained by being smooth. There’s a lot to be gained in the curves.

RRN: What would be a successful Macau for you this year?

AB: This is my second time here, and it’s really my first race, so… considering the top riders, it’s going to be tough to get a podium here. But no, I think finishing in the middle of the pack is more my position. Just to finish, without getting hurt. The middle of the classification is more my place.
