2025 Cock O’The North Preview – Part 3 – Super Twins

2025 Cock O’The North Preview – Part 3 – Super Twins

Super Twin race contests, rarely fail to enthuse those spectating trackside at Oliver’s Mount.

More of the same, is to be expected from this week’s Cock O’The North Road Races, with a diverse pool of pilots, building to duke it out for class spoils in the three, six-lap Pub & Kitchen supported encounters.

Rob Hodson (SMT Racing – Paton), starts it’s fair to say, firm favourite for victory captures.

Second within the Metzeler Super Twins race of TT 2025, the Wigan rider chalked up at the COFTN in 2023, a new category record lap time of 1 minute 49.206 seconds (80.105 mph).

Conditions, weather depending, should he face tenacious enough opposition, a sub 1.49 seconds’ lap, cannot be discounted on Saturday and Sunday.

Fellow Paton equipped competitor, Ian Lougher (Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments), the all-time most successful racer at Scarborough, still loves his racing and starts again, one of the anticipated candidates for high-end leader board finishes.

Johnny Stewart (J Stewart Garage Services – Kawasaki), Andy Smart (VRS Racing – Yamaha), also have designs on enterprising results, whilst others to monitor intently amongst the 32-rider entry list, include:

2023 No Limits Racing, Super Twins Champion Lewis Arrowsmith (RS 660 Aprilia), Oliver’s Mount Racing CB 500 and 400cc Champions Bailey Harker, William Grant (Cowton Racing – Kawasaki).

Scott Aitkin (Kevin Liddle Motorsport – Kawasaki), Russell Brook, Oliver Morgan Edwards (OME Racing – Aprilia), Craig Szczypek (Manor Flooring and Oxman Carpentry – Yamaha).

Dan Forbes, Sam Johnson, Liam McPherson, the inspirational Chris Ganley (Blesma TB Property Maintenance – Kawasaki), Nick Boggan (NB Racing – Kawasaki).

Jack Sim, Lee Stanaway, Daniel Pearson (Pearson Racing – Kawasaki), Michael Allen (MPA Classics – Aprilia) and newcomers Trickbits Racing’s Ryan Dixon, Cowton Racing’s Franco Bourne and NGRRC (North Gloucester Road Racing Club) front runner Liam Walker (JW Services/EJ Transport – Kawasaki).
