2025 CIVS Finale, Saline-Volterra Hill Climb

2025 CIVS Finale, Saline-Volterra Hill Climb

Taking place at the same time as the record breaking IRRC season finale, at Frohburger Dreieck, the Saline to Volterra hill-climb course, hosted last weekend the grand finale of 2025 CIVS (Campionato Italiano Velocita in Salita) explorations.

Double European Hill Climb Road Race Champion this year with new track records at Luckendorfer Bergrennen time-trial, TT and Classic TT entrant, Italian superstar Maurizio Bottalico added to his rich road racing/hill climbing curriculum vitae, bagging another SuperOpen 1000 (Superbike) CIVS title, plus overall second position in SuperOpen 600 class after last Sunday’s competition bursts.

Re-capping his incredible CIVS season and the journey to the SuperOpen 1000 category title Bottalico achieved along the way:

Spoleto/Forca Di Cerro – Four wins plus new track-record (1.05.45).

Deruta/Castelleone – Three wins plus new track-record (1.12.90).

Lo Spino – Did not start, focusing on coinciding, cancelled Senior TT race, following shoulder injury in second Superstock race.

Isola del Liri/Arpino – Four wins plus new track-record (1.16.59).

CIVS premiere in San Marino – Two wins plus new track-record (1.01.79).

The 2024 Junior Manx Grand Prix podium finisher continued his lap-record breaking habit last week, astride Team Fox 373’s R1 Yamaha apparatus, circulating the Saline to Volterra time-trial in 1 minute 25.47 seconds, ensuring full points towards the ‘Luca Salvadori L´Assoluta Challenge’.

2025 CIVS SuperOpen runner-up, Saline to Volterra 1000cc Race Two winner was Francesco Maria Piva, an IRRC wildcard in recent times at Schleizer Dreieck.

We eagerly await the next CIVS season, and you can be almost sure, that the great Maurizio Bottalico will be bidding for more Championship titles.
