2024 Manx GP Chat: Spanish Voyager Victor Ortega Perez

For Victor Ortega Perez, the Manx Grand Prix is his Olympics, World Cup, World Championship of pure road racing.

Spain’s only Mountain Course racing representative of 2024, in 2019 he first joined MGP rider ranks, going onto finish ninth in the last ever (presently) Newcomers, ‘A’ race.

Since then, he’s attained a steady run of respectable finishes, unlocked entry into the category of riders to have lapped over 110 mph.

Delighted to be back on IOM shores, the cheerful Spaniard stated:

“That’s what we’ve been working for all year, we are back again. I’m with the same brand, same team, the only difference is this year we are in two classes.”

“This is my fourth Manx GP, more people are knowing me, so we have got a bit more sponsorship, but my main people are always around me.

Moto Valencia, second hand Motorcycle store, same brand with leathers, close people helping me are the same and we have added a few other helpers.”

21st fastest yesterday in Lightweight qualifying, ESBK Legends Championship contender Ortega Perez outlined the decision behind doubling up MGP races account astride the KS Performance ZXR 600 Kawasaki, MBM Racing by KS Performance NC30 Honda.

“The thing with the 400 is trying to get few lines better and then trying to be faster with the 600, that’s the main thing.”

Tyre compound wise, Ortega Perez is sticking with what he knows best.

“I race and train with Pirelli’s in Spain, Metzeler is same tyre so if you are used to the handle, reaction of the bike so it’s better than changing and don’t have information in your bank.”
