2024 Cock O’The North Preview – Part 5 – Sidecars

There’s something unique about Sidecar racing at Scarborough. Whether how close the racing is, how spectacular the outfit’s look going through Jefferies Jumps.

Viewing close-up, the driver, passenger’s talents, it’s a must for roads fans to witness three-wheeling thrills at England’s only real roads course.

Ten crews are set to take in this week’s Cock O’The North, Yorkshire MAG (Motorcycle Action Group) F2 Sidecar encounters.

Oliver’s Mount giant, new 100 Mph Club Southern 100 member Lee Crawford, links up again with long-time team-mate, Scotsman Scott Hardie.

Combined the pair, have been untouchable on countless occasions at North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’.

One goal they particularly crave is the outright Sidecars lap-record, held since 2008 by Nick Crowe and Mark Cox.

With continuous spells of sunshine, dry weather forecast across the weekend, expect striking lap times recorded.

Widely anticipated lead pursuers Crawford & Hardie are the ever-dependable Ramsdens, Steve & Matty (LCR – Louis Christen Racing Honda).

Carl Fenwick/Phil Knapton (CR Fenwick Commercials Ltd – Shelbourne Yamaha) can’t be discounted either from pocketing race wins.

Others looking to mix it up on Saturday and Sunday include Bruce Moore/Josh Smith, Michael Russell and TT podium finishing passenger alongside Dave Molyneux, Jake Roberts.

Wrapping up the entry-list are the Chandlers Shaun & Ben, Charlie Morphet/Dave ‘Knight’ Ryder, Adam Holden/James Salsbury, David Marshal/Geoffrey Hickie and sole yesteryear outfit occupiers Adam Pope/John Christopher.
