Munster 100: Dependable Sheils Scores Carole Nash Grand Final Glory

The re-run six lap Carole Nash Grand Final race at Glanmire, would see BE Racing In Conjunction with Richardson Kelly Racing’s Derek Sheils score another 1000cc national roads success.

As within the Open Championship encounter, Metzeler King of The Roads series leader Sheils was under sustained pressure from early race pace setter Michael Sweeney.

Moving into the race lead on lap three, he moved half a second clear of Sweeney on lap four, which by the completion of the sixth and last lap grew to 1.770 seconds.

Joining Ulster Road Race Superbike champion, Munster 100 Supersport victor Sweeney on the Grand Final rostrum following an excellent performance was local favourite Ray Casey.

Placing fourth behind Casey was 2017 Newcomers B Manx GP winner Derek Wilson, whilst the battle for fifth between Stephen Casey and Thomas Maxwell, saw the duo separated by only 0.279 of a second.

Remaining finishers from the showpiece race of the revived Munster 100 Road Races, were Noel Carroll, Stephen Tobin and Supersport race podium finisher Paul Fallon.
