Mugen Aiming To Crack 120 Mph Barrier At TT 2016

Mugen are aiming to crack the 120 mph barrier at TT 2016.

Last two years have seen John McGuinness seal back to back TT zero victories.

The 23 times TT winner continues his association with Mugen during TT 2016, as he bids to make it a hat trick of TT zero successes, on the mountain course.

Alongside race victory, this years TT zero saw John lap close to the 120 mph mark, setting new class lap record of 119.279 mph.

Since electric bikes made their first appearance at TT Races back in 2009, we have seen the gradual improvement in performance with lap speeds rising from 100 mph to 105 mph, to 109 mph, to 110 mph, to 115 mph and now close to 120 mph.

If their is a criticism of the TT zero race, it’s that there’s not enough bikes on the grid to give it the prestigious factor that the superbike, supersport, superstock, lightweight and senior races have.

In my opinion the race adds something different, at the same time we need more bikes on the grid, more manufacturers competing, to make the race a bit more iconic.

Last two TT zero Races, have seen Mugen totally dominant. A similar story is more than possible in 2016, as John McGuinness aims for his third win in the innovative electric bike class.

It would be great to see Mugen use their Engineers to put together a full set of bikes for a two rider team for the Road races to start with. This would give an air of Japanese excellence in the paddock and somewhere for their young Engineers to show their talent.
