Manx GP Top 6: Kamil Holan

Newcomers A race winner in 2012, leading Czech roads competitor Kamil Holan is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News, rising in popularity Manx GP Top 6 series.

A persistent front runner at Horice, Holan who placed 20th within the RST Superbike race of TT 2018, answers to the Mountain Course themed set of questions are as follows:

Q1: When you first competed at the Manx, what was your first initial thought of the Mountain Course?

“When I was riding first time on the Mountain Course I could not believe it. It was like I was in a dream.

The long journey from the Czech Republic and the difficulties of the track seemed to be impossible for me. I was very lucky it all came good and I could race at the Manx GP.”

Q2: Most memorable Manx GP bike?

“I did Manx GP three times and I always had only Yamaha R6 for the races but best one was the one I had for the first time, 2008 R6. Somehow got the magic from Manx GP spirit.”

Q3: Most treasured memory from the Manx?

“The best memories are from 2012. I came from the middle of nowhere (Czech Republic) and I had no idea how the Mountain Course would be.

Had just one mechanic and borrowed bike, and won the Newcomers race! I am still watching Grand Prix Racer very often, which is all about the 2012 MGP. Still think it was a dream but my name is on the Trophy.”

Q4: Is there one specific Manx GP competitor that you look up to?

“All riders of the Manx GP are heroes for me. I always look up to all who are faster than me. Trying to learn from them and race with them.”

Q5: Describe the Manx GP in one word?

“Awesome”

Q6: Finally, if you could race one machine from any series, championship around the Mountain Course, what would it be?

“I would be happy with one of the factory supported Superbikes. Flying over 200 mph through Sulby Straight is out of this world.”
