Hoping to accomplish a long-held ambition, experienced Mountain Course exponent Richard Charlton has applied to compete within the 2023 International Road Racing Championship.
Charlton who admitted recently via Facebook, that this season looks like been his final road racing campaign before retiring, prospective, full IRRC tilt, pending verification from Championship organisers will see him compete at the following events:
Varsselring, Hengelo (Netherlands), Schleizer Dreieck (Germany), Finland’s ex Grand Prix circuit Imatranajo, Horice (Czech Republic) and the most acclaimed, active German real roads venue Frohburger Dreieck.
Commenting via Facebook about the IRRC objective, additional 2023 goals, Cookstown Grand Final podium finisher, Southern 100 winner Charlton stated:
“Something I’ve wanted to do for a few years now, so this will affect what we’ve previously done.
This is very much looking like my final season so couldn’t retire without not giving it a shot, so the likes of Irish road racing etc will unfortunately be knocked on the head but we will still be at the Southern 100 and probably a couple of local races, Croft, Darley Moor.
Funds are going to be really tight so thinking about doing some sponsorship packages, would include t-shirts, hats, stickers, posters etc at different price categories.
Something like £50 and £100 pound sponsor package but I’ll update when up and running, any help would be very much appreciated and goes a long way. Can’t wait to get going now and hopefully we can pull this off.”
