2017 Manx Grand Prix: Evans Unofficially Joins ‘Tommy Club’

Senior pace setter Martin Bullock Manxsport’s Michael Evans unofficially tonight joined the prestigious ‘Tommy Club’, lapping from a standing start at a brilliant 121.217 mph.

His unrelated surname equivalent Barry Evans was also near the magical 120 mph mark, lapping at 119.295 mph aboard the PRF Racing GSX-R 750 Suzuki in finishing second quickest in class.

Outside of the Evans exploits, Dean Osborne (119.181) headed the hugely competitive Junior class, just in front of Tom Robinson (118.793), as the quickest nine riders this evening lapped in excess of 116.5 mph.

M&D Racing’s Darryl Tweed continues to set the Newcomers A pace, increasing his speed slightly from last night, lapping at 115.317 mph.

Whilst The Peoples Bike Team’s rising star protege Stephen Parsons (114.483) looks at present the foremost challenger to the Ballymoney based rider.

AJB Racing’s Brad Vicars (112.908), Andrew Fisher (111.909) and David McConnachy (110.551) all improved on their previous personal best lap speeds, as did Italian hill climb specialist Francesco Curinga (109.510).

Unfortunately Newcomers B and Lightweight practice was cut short, following an incident at Brandywell involving Mark Foster.

Looking at the time it would take to clean up the debris before practice could resume, event organisers made the decision to call time on the rest of tonight’s Mountain Course action.

Results per class, from Friday evening’s Manx Grand Prix practice session, are as follows:
