2017 Manx Grand Prix: Bar Raised Across All Classes As Evans Sets Blistering Pace

Thursday evening’s Manx GP practice session saw the bar well and truly raised across all classes, with the pace in particular within the Junior and Senior fields going up a notch.

Martin Bullock Manxsport’s Michael Evans from a standing start set a blistering pace, recording unofficially a new personal best lap speed of 119.228 mph, to top the Junior time sheets.

Not far behind the Douglas based rider, Tom Robinson (118.938) and Dean Osborne (118.837) where also on personal best pace in a session which saw 19 riders lap in excess of 115 mph.

Barry Evans second lap of 118.940 mph aboard the PRF Racing GSX-R 750 Suzuki, was just enough for the highly rated Welshman to set the Senior pace.

Spain’s Martimotos backed Victor Lopez Santos (111.907) set the 2nd fastest lap of practice week, on his way to fronting the Lightweight class in front of 1993 Formula 1 TT winner Nick Jefferies (111.475).

Like last night, the front running Newcomers performances could only be described as exquisite, as Ballymoney’s Darryl Tweed continued to set the pace, becoming the first of the Manx GP debutants to top the 115 mph mark, lapping at a very impressive 115.092 mph.

Stephen Parsons (113.218), Italy’s Nicolo Capelli (112.571), AJB Racing’s Brad Vicars (112.435) continue to increase their stature around the Mountain Course as does accomplished Thundersport competitors Matt Stevenson (112.140) and Andrew Fisher (111.191).

Newcomers B yardstick Dave Quine (104.718) as in previous practice sessions, was the class of the (B) field, improving his previous personal best lap speed by 2 mph.

Cork’s Derek Wilson (100.291) dipped over the 100 mph mark, whilst DP Coldplaning/TC Racing’s Matteo Bardelli (97.399) also impressed.
