2014 Duke Road Race Rankings Champion James Cowton Joins Danny Tomlinson Racing

2014 Duke road race rankings champion James Cowton has joined the Danny Tomlinson racing team. James who has enjoyed a dazzling year of racing is set to compete for the team at all Oliver’s Mount meetings, Southern 100, North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix and Isle of Man TT.

Amongst the highlights of this season for the rider who is only the fifth different winner of the Duke road race championship include third place finish in lightweight TT, Dundrod 150 challenge and lightweight victories plus series of golden results around Oliver’s Mount.

At the mount James has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is considered by many a specialist of the road race circuit known to many as mini TT.

His first year of competition at the Isle of Man TT was an undoubted success as the 2013 newcomers c Manx Grand Prix winner secured 18th and 13th place finishes in opening supersport and superstock races plus securing impressive personal best lap speed of over 124.7 mph.

But without a doubt the standout moment of the week was third place finish in lightweight TT as James proved to everyone why he is considered a TT winner in the making. For TT 2015 he is Honda mounted in superbike, supersport, superstock and senior races whilst for the lightweight TT he is ER6 Kawasaki mounted.

Ever since he made his pure road racing debut at the Ian Watson spring cup road races at Oliver’s Mount back in 2011 James has proved a natural on the roads. Going into next season expectations are good that his outstanding progress can continue to the next level as he builds up to achieving an ambition he has always had to become a race winner at the Isle of Man TT.
